القاعدة

الصفة القصيرة تأخذ -er: cheap → cheaper، والطويلة تأخذ more قبلها: more expensive، ويأتي بعدها than دائمًا. وأربع صفات شاذة: good → better وbad → worse وfar → further وlittle → less.

short + -er + than · more + long + than · good → better · bad → worse

  1. The market is cheaper than the supermarket.

    السوق أرخص من السوبرماركت.

  2. This flat is more expensive than the other one.

    هذه الشقة أغلى من الأخرى.

  3. The traffic is worse than yesterday.

    حركة المرور أسوأ من أمس.

  4. My new job is better than my old one.

    وظيفتي الجديدة أفضل من القديمة.

أخطاء شائعة

  • خطأ: This one is more cheap.

    صحيح: This one is cheaper.

    الصفة القصيرة تأخذ -er لا more.

  • خطأ: It is cheaper that the other.

    صحيح: It is cheaper than the other.

    أداة المقارنة than لا that.
