القاعدة

استخدم الضمير الانعكاسي — myself وyourself وhimself وherself وitself وourselves وyourselves وthemselves — حين يكون الفاعل والمفعول الشخص نفسه: ‏I cut myself وShe taught herself to drive. وby myself تعني وحدي بلا مساعدة. واستخدم each other حين يفعل شخصان الشيء نفسه أحدهما للآخر: ‏They help each other وهي غير They help themselves. وانتبه: الإنجليزية لا تجعل wash وshave وfeel وconcentrate انعكاسية، فنقول I feel better لا I feel myself better.

النمط

subject + verb + …self · by myself = alone · each other = one to the other

أمثلة

  1. I cut myself on a tin lid.

    جرحت نفسي بغطاء علبة.

  2. She taught herself to play the guitar.

    علّمت نفسها العزف على الغيتار.

  3. They have known each other since school.

    يعرف كل منهما الآخر منذ المدرسة.

  4. I painted the whole room by myself.

    طليت الغرفة كلها بنفسي.

أخطاء شائعة

  • خطأ: I feel myself much better today.

    صحيح: I feel much better today.

    feel ليست انعكاسية في الإنجليزية.

  • خطأ: They looked at themselves and smiled at the news.

    صحيح: They looked at each other and smiled at the news.

    شخصان يتبادلان الفعل يأخذان each other.

  • خطأ: He hurt hisself on the ladder.

    صحيح: He hurt himself on the ladder.

    الصيغة هي himself، وhisself غير موجودة.

    by myself تعني بلا مساعدة.

    كل منهما يتصل بالآخر، فـ each other.

    للتأكيد على الفاعل يأتي الضمير الانعكاسي بعد المفعول.

    enjoy تحتاج مفعولًا، وهو هنا الضمير الانعكاسي.

    each other كلمتان ولا تأخذان ‎-s.
