القاعدة

حين تتحدث عن مجموعة بوجه عام استخدم الأداة وحدها: ‏Most children like sweets. وحين تتحدث عن مجموعة بعينها أضف of وكلمة تعيين — the أو my أو this أو these أو them: ‏Most of the children in my class. وقبل الضمير تكون of واجبة: ‏all of us ولا نقول all us. وnone of تأخذ فعلًا مفردًا في الكتابة المتأنّية: ‏None of the shops was open. ولاحظ الفرق بين all وevery: بعد every اسم مفرد وبعد all اسم جمع.

أخطاء شائعة

  • خطأ: Most of children like sweets.

    صحيح: Most children like sweets.

    عند الحديث العام تُحذف of.

  • خطأ: All us were late.

    صحيح: All of us were late.

    قبل الضمير تكون of واجبة.

  • خطأ: Every students must register.

    صحيح: Every student must register.

    بعد every يأتي اسم مفرد.
