De regel

Praat u over een groep in het algemeen, gebruik dan het determinator alleen: Most children like sweets. Gaat het om een BEPAALDE groep, voeg dan of toe en een aanwijzend woord — the, my, this, these, them: Most of the children in my class. Vóór een voornaamwoord is of verplicht: all of us, nooit all us. none of krijgt in verzorgd schrijven een enkelvoudig werkwoord: None of the shops was open. En let op het verschil tussen all en every: na every komt een enkelvoud, na all een meervoud.
