تستخدم الإنجليزية الرسمية حروف جر مركبة دقيقة المعنى: with regard to (بخصوص)، وon behalf of (نيابة عن)، وin the event of (في حال)، وby virtue of (بحكم)، وin the wake of (في أعقاب)، وin accordance with (وفقًا لـ)، وin terms of (من حيث)، وwith a view to مع -ing (بهدف)، وregardless of (بغض النظر عن). وتأخذ اسمًا أو -ing. ومن الأخطاء: in regards to وwith a view to buy وregardless the cost.

    in the event of مع اسم (أو in the event that مع جملة).

  • خطأ: Regardless the cost, we must repair it.

    صحيح: Regardless of the cost, we must repair it.

    regardless of تحتاج of.
