De regel

Drie woordjes verbinden wat u al kent tot een echte zin in plaats van een lijst. and telt op, but geeft een tegenstelling, or biedt een keuze. Ze verbinden losse woorden net zo makkelijk als hele zinnen.

Veelgemaakte fouten

  • Fout: I have a cough. And a cold.

    Goed: I have a cough and a cold.

    and verbindt binnen één zin; het begint op A0 geen nieuwe zin.

  • Fout: Tea and coffee? — as a choice

    Goed: Tea or coffee?

    Een keuze tussen twee krijgt or; and zou betekenen dat u beide wilt.
