أخطاء شائعة

• ✗خطأ: I was cooking when the phone was ringing.

  ✓صحيح: I was cooking when the phone rang.

  الفعل الطويل يأخذ المستمر، والفعل القصير الذي يقطعه يأخذ الماضي البسيط.

• ✗خطأ: While I cooked, the phone rang.

  ✓صحيح: While I was cooking, the phone rang.

  بعد while تكون حركة الخلفية في المستمر.

• ✗خطأ: I was knowing the answer.

  ✓صحيح: I knew the answer.

  أفعال الحالة مثل know وwant وbelieve ليس لها صيغة مستمرة.
