The rule

To say "the most" put the article in front of más: el piso más caro, la mejor tarta, el libro más interesante que he leído. The group you are choosing from takes de: el más barato de la tienda — not en la tienda. Spanish also has a one-word way of saying "extremely": add -ísimo to the adjective. ¡Está riquísimo!, es carísimo.

Pattern

el / la + (noun) + más + adjetivo + de … · adjetivo + -ísimo

Examples

  1. Es el piso más barato de la calle.

    It is the cheapest flat in the street.

  2. Es el libro más interesante que he leído este año.

    It is the most interesting book I have read this year.

  3. ¡Las croquetas están riquísimas!

    The croquettes are absolutely delicious!

Keep in mind

  • el más barato de la tienda

    de, not en — the group is introduced with de.
