my, your, his, her, our, their

De regel

Om te zeggen van wie iets is, zet het Engels één woordje voor het zelfstandig naamwoord, dat nooit verandert: my bag, my bags. Het woord hangt af van de EIGENAAR: his sister (van een man), her brother (van een vrouw).

Veelgemaakte fouten

  • Fout: my bags are heavy — mys bags

    Goed: my bags are heavy

    Deze woorden krijgen nooit -s, hoeveel dingen het ook zijn.

  • Fout: Ahmed and her sister

    Goed: Ahmed and his sister

    Het woord volgt de EIGENAAR. Ahmed is een man, dus his — ook al is sister een vrouw.
