De regel

Het Engels wijst met vier woorden, die op twee manieren verschillen: dichtbij of ver, één of meer. this · that · these · those. In een winkel is dit alles wat u nodig heeft om iets te kopen: I will take this one.

Veelgemaakte fouten

  • Fout: this shoes

    Goed: these shoes

    this is voor één ding; meer dan één krijgt these.

  • Fout: How much is this over there?

    Goed: How much is that over there?

    Iets verder weg is that, niet this.
