De regel

A0 en A2 leren a/an/the voor dingen in een kamer. B2 heeft lidwoorden nodig voor ideeën. Er zijn drie manieren om te generaliseren: geen lidwoord bij meervoud of ontelbaar, a voor één willekeurig voorbeeld, en the voor de klasse als instituut. The is ook verplicht bij overtreffende trappen, rangtelwoorden, rivieren en meervoudige landnamen.
