De regel

Een voorzetsel + zelfstandig naamwoord werkt vaak als een bijvoeglijk naamwoord: at risk, at stake, in charge, in demand, on hold, on strike, out of order, out of date, under way, under pressure, under review, under construction, beyond repair, beyond doubt, off limits. Ze volgen be, seem, remain of een zelfstandig naamwoord. Het voorzetsel ligt vast: under construction, niet in construction; on strike, niet in strike. Leer elke uitdrukking als geheel.
