The rule

After sein, a German adjective takes NO ending at all, however many endings the noun has: Die Wohnung ist klein. Die Kinder sind müde. Adjectives in front of a noun do take endings — that is A1, not A0.

Pattern

Die Wohnung ist klein. · Die Kinder sind müde. · Der Tee ist zu heiß.

Keep in mind

  • Die Wohnung ist klein. · eine kleine Wohnung

    The ending appears only in front of the noun — that comes at A1.
