The rule

The clock is 시 for the hour, native; 분 for the minute, Sino; and 반 for half past. The calendar is all Sino: 오 월 오 일. Two months are irregular — June is 유월 and October is 시월, never 육월 or 십월. Weekdays end in 요일, and a time takes 에: 세 시에 만나요.

Pattern

숫자 + 시 + 숫자 + 분 · 숫자 + 월 + 숫자 + 일 · 요일

Examples

  1. 세 시에 만나요.

    Let us meet at three.

  2. 제 생일은 유월 이십 일이에요.

    My birthday is the twentieth of June.

  3. 금요일에 시험이 있어요.

    The exam is on Friday.

Keep in mind

  • 유월

    June — not 육월

  • 시월

    October — not 십월
