Adverbs and frequency
The rule
To turn an adjective into an adverb, take the FEMININE form and add -mente: rápida → rápidamente, normal → normalmente. Many everyday adverbs do not need it at all — bien, mal, despacio, pronto, tarde. For how often, Spanish has a simple scale: siempre, casi siempre, a menudo, a veces, de vez en cuando, rara vez, casi nunca, nunca. Nunca before the verb needs no no; after it, it does: nunca voy or no voy nunca.
adjetivo femenino + -mente · siempre > a menudo > a veces > rara vez > nunca
Examples
Normalmente como en el trabajo.
I normally eat at work.
Casi nunca veo la televisión.
I almost never watch television.
Habla muy despacio, se le entiende bien.
He speaks very slowly, he is easy to understand.
Keep in mind
Nunca voy. / No voy nunca.
Both correct; the no appears only when nunca follows the verb.
