De regel

Beide versterken iets en geven daarna het gevolg. so staat vóór een los bijvoeglijk naamwoord of bijwoord: so tired, so quickly. such staat vóór een naamwoordgroep en houdt a of an bij een enkelvoudig zelfstandig naamwoord: such a long day, such good news. Het gevolg volgt met that, dat u in spreektaal mag weglaten: It was so cold (that) we went home. Bij een hoeveelheid gebruikt u so much, so many, so few, so little.
