  Voor gewone toekomst na if gebruik je het heden, niet will.

  Geïnverteerd were vraagt to + infinitief als het werkwoord niet be is.

• ✗Fout: If it wasn’t for the rain yesterday, we would have won.

  ✓Goed: If it hadn’t been for the rain yesterday, we would have won.

  Een oorzaak in het verleden vraagt if it hadn’t been for.
