القاعدة

الـ there الشكلية تفعل أكثر بكثير من there is / are: تأتي مع seem وappear وhappen (There appears to have been a mistake)، ومع be likely / bound to، ومع الأفعال المساعدة (There must be a way)، ومع المبني للمجهول الناقل (There is said to be…). ومن العبارات الثابتة: There is no denying that… وThere is no telling… وThere’s no point -ing وThere’s no need to…. والرسمي: There being no further business, …. ويطابق الفعلُ الاسمَ الذي بعده، وتكرر اللاحقة there.

أخطاء شائعة

  • خطأ: It seems to be a problem with the engine.

    صحيح: There seems to be a problem with the engine.

    لتقديم شيء موجود استخدم there لا it.

  • خطأ: There seems to be several mistakes.

    صحيح: There seem to be several mistakes.

    يطابق الفعلُ الاسمَ الذي يليه.

  • خطأ: There is no point to argue.

    صحيح: There is no point arguing.

    no point (in) مع -ing.
