The rule

A Spanish possessive agrees with the THING OWNED, not with the owner: mi hijo, mis hijos. mi, tu and su have only a singular and a plural form. su is the busiest word in the set — it means his, her, their AND polite your, and only the context says which. nuestro is the one that also changes for gender: nuestro hijo, nuestra hija.

  • tu / tú

    tu without an accent is "your"; tú with one is the pronoun "you".
