القاعدة

أدوات الربط المزدوجة (both … and وeither … or وneither … nor وnot only … but also وwhether … or) تربط عنصرين متوازيين نحويًّا: اسمًا باسم وفعلًا بفعل. فعبارة She not only speaks French but also Spanish مختلة، والصواب She speaks not only French but also Spanish. ومع either … or وneither … nor يطابق الفعلُ الفاعلَ الأقرب. وnot … but للتصحيح، وrather than تربط صيغًا متماثلة.

النمط

both X and Y · either X or Y · neither X nor Y · not only X but also Y · whether X or Y · not X but Y · X rather than Y (X and Y the same kind of word or phrase) · either / neither …: verb agrees with the nearer subject

أخطاء شائعة

  • خطأ: She not only speaks French but also Spanish.

    صحيح: She speaks not only French but also Spanish.

    حافظ على التوازي: اسم مع اسم.

  • خطأ: He is both clever and works hard.

    صحيح: He is both clever and hard-working.

    اربط صفة بصفة.

  • خطأ: Neither the manager or the staff knew.

    صحيح: Neither the manager nor the staff knew.

    neither تقترن بـ nor.
